We are excited to announce that our German teacher Olga Isac is delivering next week’s Linguascope webinar, the webinar will kick off at 7pm (GMT). Please join the session by registering via the Linguascope staffroom, webinar app or here on the link: https://lnkd.in/eJrJ7kMt Linguascope webinars are always free to register and to attend live. Olga will highlight the importance of including original literary works and films in the foreign language classroom for students who have level B1, B2 or higher. She will highlight the key methods that lead to a successful usage of material in the target language. The objective of the webinar is to share with language teachers her expertise on how to use literary works and films in their original versions in a foreign language class successfully. Olga Isac has been working as a languages teacher since 2007 in her own country, Moldova, as well as in Spain. Currently Olga mainly teaches grades 11 and 12, which means the level of the students aim for B2/C1 at the end of the course. Olga believes that teaching high level language students can be challenging at times, because the syllabus at this level includes literary works, and films in the original language. Her students have delivered fantastic results in language exams gaining distinctions in Speaking. In this webinar, Olga will share some useful and practical methods which have worked well in her class and which lead to great results long afterwards. Olga Isac has shared her expertise in several articles in Linguistics and Scientific journals. #Heritage #Moldova #teacherspotlight Olga Isac Guvernul Republicii Moldova Linguascope Crista Hazell

W/C 22 April: Enjoyable visits to support/deepen relationships with International Directors, Heads and Governors at Uppingham School, Oundle School, COVENTRY SCHOOLS FOUNDATION INC and The Perse School, Cambridge. Swiftly followed by a magnificent couple of days in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova. Thank you and ‘mulțumesc’ to students, Tatiana Popa, Rob Ford, Inga Chiosa and the superb team at COBIS accredited Heritage International School (HIS) in #Moldova. Exploring ways to collaborate, especially in terms of safeguarding and school quality assurance, were the main focus of meetings with Dan Perciun Minister of Education and Valentina Olaru, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education and Research, Moldova With our friends from HIS meeting with HE, Fern Horine, HM British Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova and Edward Inglett, Deputy Head of Mission. Together we recognised the positive and supportive relationship between Moldova and the UK and the impact of high-quality British education in Moldova and across the Black Sea region - especially during such a barbaric, destructive and challenging time of war and conflict. Plus, hosted by the Ministry of Education and Research as part of the ‘Moldova Education Forum’ and set in the context of innovation, leadership, teacher training, EdTech and education policy, I enjoyed sharing with delegates the clear COBIS philosophy re. long-term school improvement - all through the lens of international collaboration, support and rigorous Standards of accreditation. Thank you to all schools and organisations that I’ve spent quality time with this week. For the benefit of children, families and educators, our partnered approach to school devleopment and improvement work is well underway! 🇲🇩 🇬🇧 🌍 Sarah Kerr-Dineen Gordon Montgomery Patrick Mulvihill Richard MALONEY Chris Staley Kathy Sawtell Simon Armitage Tim Coleridge

World Earth Day 24. Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there, on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Our posturing, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves. The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand. It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known. — Carl Sagan, Pale Blue Dot, 1994 #EarthDay Koen Timmers, FRSA #ClimateAction
